Parents as Teachers
Four times per year Parents as Teachers Curriculum is taught in the state of Oregon. Spanish speaking trainers are available. The program has specific goals and objectives, including:
Increase parent knowledge of early childhood development and improve parenting practices
Provide early detection of developmental delays and health issues
Prevent child abuse and neglect
Increase children’s school readiness and school success.
Eligibility
Parent educators must be involved in a program that provides Parents as Teachers Curriculum in conjunction with their home visiting program. The agency in which the parent educators are employed must have a current Parents as Teachers implementation plan submitted at the time of registration for the next training.
