BILINGUAL CHILD AND FAMILY THERAPIST/QMHP
@ Child and Family Outpatient Services/NE Portland
(Full-time)
Position Summary:
Position is responsible
for providing outpatient mental health services to Spanish-speaking children
and adolescents with emotional disorders and their families. Duties include overall responsibilities for
assessment, treatment planning, and clinical record keeping for each client and
family.
Education/Experience Required:
A typical background for the
person who can fulfill the duties of this position is as follows:
- Master’s level degree in
psychology, social work, counseling or related field and a minimum of two years
direct experience in a social service or mental health setting providing
treatment and support services to children, adolescents and families.
- Interest and experience in
Early Childhood Mental Health essential.
- Licensure preferred but not
required.
- Experience must include
provision of mental health services to Spanish-speaking children and their
families.
- Must be able to meet QMHP
requirements under State of Oregon Office of Mental Health and Addiction
Services Division’s Administrative rules.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:
- Values working in a

- Good understanding of and
ability to use DSM IV Diagnostic Categories.
- Ability to establish
professional communication with Spanish-speaking clients and service providers,
both orally and in writing.
- Demonstrated ability to work
with diverse populations in a variety of environments and knowledge of diverse
neighborhoods and communities.
- Bilingual/bicultural
(Spanish) capabilities required.
- Ability to work effectively
in an environment serving clients who are struggling with severe emotional and
mental health related disorders.
- Ability to exercise tact,
discretion and judgment while working with a variety of people.
- Ability to work effectively
in an environment serving children and families who are struggling with severe
emotional, behavioral and mental health difficulties.
- Ability to maintain
appropriate professional boundaries while working with others and in handling
confidential information.
- Ability to work as a member
of a coordinated team effort.
- Ability to work independently
and seek out supervision as needed or required.
- Openness to feedback and
supervision.
- Ability to regularly attend
and be punctual for scheduled work commitments and meetings and be in a
condition suitable for assuming responsibilities of position.
- Knowledge of the development
needs of children birth to eighteen years old.
- Knowledge of individual,
family and group treatment strategies, including traditional and
non-traditional treatment/service modalities.
- Ability to maintain complete
documentation for charting according to OAR and agency requirements.
- Ability to accurately read,
record and interpret information, including assessments, measures and
diagnostic criteria in order to establish client/service provider strengths and
needs.
Other Requirements:
- Position
may include driving. If driving a personal vehicle, a valid driver’s license for
state of residency, personal auto liability insurance, and a driving record
permitting coverage under corporate auto liability policy is required.
- Bloodborne
Pathogens training is required on first day of employment.
- Must
pass criminal history check.
- Availability to work
supervisor/program designated evening hours. Includes frequent early evening
hours, until 6:00 p.m., and 1-2 evenings per week until 8:00 p.m.
- Position
